July Update From the Gills
Keisa and I wanted to share an email with all of you to keep you in the loop on all things ‘Gills In Costa Rica’. This is what we shared a month ago with those on our support team and we wanted to make sure we kept all of you in the loop. So, here’s the scoop…
Dear Friends,
We wanted to share with all of you who have supported our family, prayed for us, and served alongside us in Costa Rica that we are headed back to Costa Rica this week to begin finalizing our time living in Costa Rica as well as taking the steps to hand off our part of the ministry.
We have loved our time serving in the country, serving our friends Miguel and Karina, and those we have built relationships with, in each barrio. It has just reaffirmed our heart for missions, our friends, and their culture.
However, even though we have been involved in some capacity in serving in Costa Rica for over fourteen years, we have had the sense that this season of ministry was primarily about bringing relationships and resources to the ministry of Costa Rica and then graciously stepping aside. We've even talked openly about this season, sensing this may be God's purpose, while we served alongside many of you in Costa Rica.
So, for the past year and a half, we have been involved in several ways. We have had the privilege of leading initial leadership teams into Costa Rica, connecting many of you personally with Miguel and Karina, and serving alongside your church. Together we also have had the privilege of serving the people of Costa Rica with construction teams, medical teams, and kid’s ministry teams. It’s been a joy!
Over these next several weeks we still have some conversations to pursue and next steps to take to ensure a healthy handoff will take place. Yet, we felt it was important to start with this email to the many of you who have championed our family in some way. Looking ahead, our goal is to have this transition finalized by July 15th, 2024.
As to what is next for our family, we are trusting God. He has always shown us what His purpose is for us and in that we have complete peace. We will keep you updated via email and social media in regards to moving forward and our heading back from Costa Rica.
Again, to all of you who have been in our corner in so many ways, we are very grateful to each of you. Together we have helped point people to Jesus in this season of ministry. And we are confident that God will continue to work through many of you, your churches, and the work that Miguel and Karina are doing through Iglesia de La Ciudad.
With great love and gratitude,
Steve and Keisa and Nina
